Reminder: Doubles Social This Saturday!

Hi All,

May’s doubles social is this Saturday (May 11th) from 8-10 pm at Woburn Racquet Club. If you are planning to attend, please sign up ASAP so we can get an accurate head count for planning purposes. Food and beverage will be provided after tennis. I just saw Challengers the other night and it was good. We can discuss that too. It will be like a book club except fun. Is tennis really a relationship? Who in my life is just a racquet and a dick? So many things to ponder.

Hope to see you there,

Bill

March in this year’s pride parade with Tennis4All!

Dear Tennis4All Friends and Allies,

As Pride festivities are fast approaching, Tennis4all would like to invite all of you to join us in celebrating love, equality, and our diversity at this year’s Boston Pride events.

Our tennis community has the opportunity to come together and show our support for the LGBTQ+ community by marching in the Boston Pride for the People Parade on Saturday, June 8th. It’s a chance for us to stand in solidarity, promote inclusivity, and spread joy through the sport we love.

If you would like to join Tennis4All in marching in the parade, please indicate your interest by responding here by May 9th, 2024 so we can coordinate and ensure everyone has all the necessary information.  We will need at least 6 people to carry the banner and bat the tennis ball around as we march.

Once we have a good idea of who will be marching, we also will coordinate a pre-Parade meetup on June 8th. There’s nothing like a morning mimosa or two to get you in the marching spirit!

If you’d like to read more about the Pride happenings across Boston this year, please head to the Boston Pride for the People site:  https://www.bostonprideforthepeople.org/

Whether you identify as LGBTQ+ or an ally, your presence and support are invaluable. Let’s come together, both on and off the court, to make a positive impact and spread the message of acceptance and love. Together, let’s make our presence felt and celebrate the beautiful diversity within our tennis community.

Looking forward to celebrating with you all!

Are you a happy camper?

Join us for one of Tennis4All’s best traditions every year — weekend tennis camp in Vermont! We’re headed back the weekend of July 19-21 to the Cliff Drysdale Tennis School at Stratton Mountain in beautiful southern Vermont. Atlantic CUP – 8/24 and 8/25 at Harvard University

Hello Teabaggers!!!

I am excited to announce this year’s Atlantic Cup will be held August 24th and 25th at Harvard University. As many of you know, ACup is an annual competition between Boston, DC, NY, and Philadelphia. Singles and doubles matches are played at all levels. If you are interested in playing for the Boston team please email me ASAP (brianjfrasier@gmail.com). Spots are limited.
Since we are hosting this year we will also need volunteers to help run the event. Spouses and non-tennis playing significant others are encouraged to apply. Let’s show these folks how ACup is supposed to be run!
Yours truly,
Captain Chlamydia

Boston Tennis Classic – Call for Volunteers & Raffle Prizes

Dear Tennis4All Members and Friends,

Our annual Boston Tennis Classic tournament will be contested at Woburn Racquet Club Friday, June 14th through Sunday, June 16th. This tournament brings tennis players from all over the world to Boston for three days, and is one of the flagship events for our organization.

And it cannot be a success without generous and lovely volunteers! We need YOUR help. The three biggest needs are:

  • Volunteers to check in folks for our tournament banquet at Maggiano’s in the theatre district of Boston from 6-9 PM on Saturday, June 15th. We will also need people to sell raffle tickets at the banquet.
  • On-site volunteers during the tournament for back-up support at the check-in desk, warmup time monitors, etc. We won’t be scheduling volunteer shifts for on-site support, but we’ll need an extra set of hands here and there. If you’re at Woburn Racquet Club and willing to help, let us know and we’ll “tag” you in if something comes up!
  • We need raffle items for the banquet! The raffle is one of the highlights of the banquet, so if anyone has raffle items, connections that may donate an item, or leads on any grants or corporate giving programs, we would greatly appreciate it. All raffle proceeds go to charity, and this year’s beneficiary is the Sportsmen’s Tennis and Enrichment Center in Dorchester, MA.

If you are interested in volunteering, or if you have raffle items to donate, please email us at bostontennisclassic@gmail.com.

Finally, we still have a couple spots open in the tournament (we’re talking maybe 5 spots!). As space is very limited, if you’d like to play we encourage you to sign up ASAP on the GLTA Tournament Site. Some draws are at capacity, but you may be put on a waitlist by emailing us at bostontennisclassic@gmail.com.

Whether you are playing or not, please come out to Woburn Racquet Club for the event. We’d love to see you! Thank you for considering volunteering and/or donating raffle items for this event.

Sincerely,

Sam Smith & Jeff Legendre
