Discrimination and Harrassment Policy

Policy

It is the policy of Tennis4All that all members enjoy an environment free of discrimination and harassment. Each member is afforded equal opportunity to obtain the advantages, privileges and benefits of membership without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, marital status, disability, or handicap. Tennis4All will not tolerate discrimination against or harassment of its members. This includes verbal or physical harassment and implied, as well as overt, threats of a racial, ethnic, religious or sexual nature at or away from a Tennis4All sponsored event or activity.

Harassment refers to behavior which unreasonably interferes with a member’s enjoyment or experience in Tennis4All by creating an intimidating, hostile or offensive environment. Sexual harassment includes unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct that is both sexual and offensive in nature. Each member is strongly encouraged to make it clear to the offender that such behavior is offensive and unwelcomed.

Procedure

Any member who believes he or she has been subjected to harassment and/or discrimination should promptly bring the incident to the attention of the Tennis4All board of directors by reporting it, in writing, to at least one director. The complaint should include: 1) the date, time, and location of the incident; 2) the identity of the offender(s) and any witnesses; and 3) the basis upon which the actions of the offender are alleged to be discriminatory or harassing.

The Tennis4All board will promptly and thoroughly investigate each complaint in an impartial manner and, to the fullest extent possible, shall maintain the confidentiality of all complaints. If the Tennis4All board determines that discrimination or harassment has occurred, it will immediately take appropriate remedial and/or disciplinary action, first, by restating this policy to the offender(s) and, where appropriate, by taking further disciplinary action up to and including expulsion from Tennis4All.
